Mission Impossible

Wed Sep 23, 2020, 04:03 AM

Beth,

Your mission, Beth, should you choose/decide to accept it is to transcribe and translate a Slovak Nursery Rhyme. As always, should you or any of your Impossible Mission (IM) Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This email will self-destruct in five/ten seconds.
Seriously, Beth, the attached image is of the 1st page of Wanda’s letter to Becky. It is in bad shape but has more than sentimental value. In the letter, my Dad writes the words to the Slovak nursery rhyme that he and Uncle Richard sang at your house.
Once again, we (I) need your contacts in high places.

John, IV

P.S. Years ago, the television show Mission Impossible always began with a scene in which the team leader, Mr. Phelps, would receive a tape describing his next mission. The tape invariably began, “Your mission, should you choose to accept it…”

Re: Join Us in Preserving Our Family’s Heritage

Beth,

Pam is borrowing her Sisters’ Mercedes convertible rendering one half of our garage unavailable. The solution? We have a $225-month storage unit. I’d rather buy a car. But that’s not the issue; we have a Jeep that no one drives. Woe is me.

Lol, lol, lol,

[I should have added that Pam is using Kathy’s car because Kathy won a 2-year lease on a new one. This the second time Kathy has won a car. If only her luck would extend to the casino. – Editor ?]

For Terry L. Karkos - The Elcik Family about 1910, We Have Traveled FarI don’t have a calling card, but will this picture do? The Elcik family in 1910 top row from left to right: John P. Elcik, Jr.; Michael Elcik, and Andrew Elcik. Bottom row from left to right are Mary (Dutko) Elcik, Elizabeth (Small) Elcik, John P. Elcik, Sr.; Mary (Pelcarsky) Elcik; Susan (Kiszonak) Elcik; and Annie (Karkos) Elcik.

Karkos Kronicles

Beth,

I’m taking a page from your side of our book and reaching out to Terry L. Karkos who I shared with you was the author of Karkos Kronicles, a Genealogy website that once existed and I liked it.

Terry has a Facebook account. Who knew? I didn’t. I sent him a copy of the 1910 Elcik Family photo asking if it would do in lieu of a “calling card.” I’ll let you know what happens. There are several references on his Facebook pages that he for a long time has been interested in starting the website back up. ?

If you wish, you should reach out too. We might make his whole year with our outreach. Tell him there is a rumor going around that he is going to update and republish Karkos Kronicles. If there isn’t. I’ll start one. Lol.

Beth,

I wasn’t even thinking about the picture. I simply came across the two documents I have (see attached) with his name on them and decided to see if I could locate him. My question for Terry should he answer was going to be about the four Pelcarsky women I’m researching. Check out the image of my folders.

  • George F. Karkos married Annie M. Elcik whose mother was Mary Pelcarsky.
  • Joseph Paul Karkos married Annie M. Pelcarsky.

My question is whether there is a relationship between Mary Pelcarsky and Annie Pelcarsky?.

There doesn’t have to be. Note there is a second Mary Pelcarsky that is no relation to us.

Do you know the answer?

P.S. I hope you do contact Terry also. I’m not sure about his health (I think he is a diabetic). I believe we could motivate him to put his site back up on the Internet. What do you think?
